What’s the REAL way to get good deals at a retro gaming convention? 🤔 We’re back at Southeast Game Exchange for our final video from the con, and this time we’re continuing the PnX Files hunt to find the childhood games we used to own—but now we want them Complete in Box! We had some BIG wins this time around, including: 🎮 Contra III: The Alien Wars CIB 🎮 Mortal Kombat 4 🎮 Mario Golf 🎮 Toy Story 2 🎮 Banjo-Tooie …and of course, we went looking for Buster Busts Loose AGAIN… and AGAIN we failed. 😂 But this video is about more than just what we bought. We’re breaking down how we actually approach making deals at gaming conventions, including why we don’t always try to find the cheapest game on the table. One of our favorite strategies is upgrading loose games to CIB copies. If we can sell or trade the loose copy afterward, we can recover some of the money we spent and make that upgrade much easier to justify. We’ll also break down what we expect to get back in cash from some of these pickups—and we’ll revisit our Contra III deal since we actually sold it AT the convention! We’ll also give you our final thoughts on Southeast Game Exchange, talk about what made this convention so much fun for us, and share the currently announced dates for the 2027 Southeast Game Exchange: July 30–August 1, 2027. 2000 in @GameStop credit in 1 minute!
We may have actually broken the @GameStop trade system... We started this journey with a Switch 2 trade that completely depleted our GameStop credit. In return, we picked up some awesome games for the collection, including Maui Mallard, Contra III, Link's Awakening DX, a Dragon Quest game for Game Boy Color, an SNES Jr., and more. But instead of stopping there, we decided to see just how far we could take our GameStop trade strategy. Over the next couple of weeks, we traded in consoles from previous pickups we'd been holding onto, along with some Wii Remotes, and took advantage of GameStop's 2-week Pro Member trade offer — something we had predicted was coming a few videos back. What started with almost no credit turned into nearly $2,000 in GameStop trade credit, with us getting close to maxing out TWO trade cards at $999.99 each! And then... we had to do it all over again. We ended the journey with another Switch 2 trade, this time bringing home an almost CIB Nintendo Power Set (missing the styrofoam), another SNES Jr., and some incredible SNES games for the collection, including Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World and Indiana Jones. Both Switch 2 trades were around $1000 in value, but the real question is... Did we actually break the GameStop trade system? This weekend we headed to Southeast Game Exchange 2026 for one goal... hunt for incredible deals, make some trades, and hopefully leave with something unforgettable.
